Sculptures at the Archaeological Museum of Naples, Italy
It would take several days to fully appreciate the hundreds of sculptures on display at the Archaeological Museum of Naples, which are so beautiful that they compel visitors to pause and admire them.
The Farnese Bull Whether they are the sculptures from the Farnese Collection, which were transported to Naples from Rome in the 18th century, or those discovered at Pompeii or Herculaneum, they are all strikingly realistic and of exceptional beauty.
Standing before some of them, one gets the impression that they are about to start walking, breathing, living right before our eyes.
Yet, most are over two thousand years old, but their age does not show; on the contrary, they are so expressive that their presence feels familiar to us.
These works are a dazzling testament to Antiquity that has survived the centuries to reach us today.
