Jago is a young, world-renowned Italian artist whose talent is such that many already regard him as the new Michelangelo.

The sculptures created by this brilliant artist are exceptional works that combine beauty with expressive power.

Upon entering the church of Sant’Aspreno ai Crociferi, one finds oneself standing before these impressive white marble sculptures which strike us with their beauty and the message they convey.

Standing before a sculpture by Jago is an experience that goes far beyond simply contemplating a pleasing object; rather, it involves circling an absolutely unique work of art that captures the viewer’s attention and provokes reflection.

Each of Jago’s works has its own story, and conveys a particular message that speaks to us whilst surprising and moving us.

Jago does not merely sculpt beauty; he reveals reality to us, prompting us to reflect deep within ourselves on the human condition, on our civilisation, and on current world affairs.

Jago’s genius also lies in his ability to reinterpret the themes of the greatest masterpieces by skilfully presenting them in an unexpected form.

He has thus brilliantly reimagined the myth of Narcissus, depicting here his feminine reflection and that grief of Michelangelo’s Pietà, Botticelli’s Venus, or Sanmartino’s famous Veiled Christ, which is transformed here into an innocent child whose body is covered in a shroud like that of Christ.

A talented artist with social and human qualities

We must also pay tribute to the man for his courageous decision to establish his first museum in the heart of the Rione della Sanità in Naples, thereby creating jobs for its residents.

La Sanità was known as a poor neighbourhood left to its own devices and shunned by tourists.

This neighbourhood is now bustling with visitors drawn by Jago’s works on display in the church of Sant’Aspreno ai Crociferi, and by the “Veiled Son” on display in the Cappella dei Bianchi in the Basilica of San Severo, about a ten-minute walk from Sant’Aspreno.

Although he is now world-renowned, Jago has not forgotten the most humble, donating his sculpture of the “Veiled Son” to the people of Naples after turning down a purchase offer worth over twenty million euros.

A gesture which demonstrates, far more than any words ever could, the genuine human qualities of this talented artist, who deserves respect as well as admiration for his work.
