Seated dogs from a fountain, Farnese Collection
Sculpture – Marble (Height 70 cm) 2nd centuryThese two seated dogs, from the Farnese Collection, were part of a fountain.
They both stand upright and one of them has its front paw raised.
Their muzzles are turned upwards towards the presumed location of the fountain, and the muzzle of the first dog is slightly open.

Sculpture – Marble (Height 36 cm) 2nd centuryThis dog has raised its paw to groom itself, but something or someone must have disturbed it whilst it was doing so, as it can be seen turning its head to look behind it.
