King Joachim Murat’s office at the Royal Palace in Naples, Italy

King Joachim Murat’s office The desk, chest of drawers and daybed were crafted by Adam Weisweiler (1750–1812) in 1812 in Paris, for Napoleon’s residence at the Quirinal in Rome.
They were sent to Naples for Caroline Bonaparte and her husband Joachim Murat.
Adam Weisweiler had been Queen Marie-Antoinette’s cabinetmaker.
The furniture in King Murat’s study, which can be seen here, is in the Imperial style.

King Joachim Murat’s office It features straight lines and polished surfaces in cedar wood, gilded bronze decorative elements, and the desk’s legs are lion’s paws topped with a winged goddess in the style of Ancient Egypt.
In this same study there is a French pendulum clock and barometer dating from 1812, as well as large Sèvres porcelain vases bearing portraits of Charles Ferdinand, Duke of Berry, and Louis XVIII.
The library shown here is in fact only a part of the National Library, which has been housed in the east wing of the palace since 1925.
